Description

Systence Games is a developer focused on making multiplayer video games that rethink traditional genres and create new communities. Founded by a team of University of Southern California alumni, the company was born from the drive of an unlikely crew to put a high quality, fun, and competitive experience in the faces of players everywhere.

History

It all started...

In a coffee shop on Figueroa and Jefferson in Los Angeles, three University of Southern California students decided to create a content-rich, online multiplayer real time strategy game that (almost unanimously) had absolutely no business being built by a bunch of university students. Dru Erridge and James Corcoran went on to found Systence Games as they began development of The Maestros, a new take on the RTS genre. They banded together with students and hobbyists across the globe to build the first alpha version as part of the USC Games Advanced Games Project. On top of full courseloads, part time jobs, and trying to secure a steady source of income, members of the team put in dozens of hours each week from their homes and the computer labs on campus to finish a content-rich online multiplayer game in under 9 months that showed off at multiple venues at GDC and across Los Angeles.

And then...

We all graduated and got jobs. For some of us though, the itch to release The Maestros was just too strong. We loved the game, and we thought others would enjoy it too. With permission from the University and the rest of the team, a handful of us pressed on. In the evenings after work and on the weekends, from our various homes around the world, we plugged away at The Maestros, getting it closer and closer to a final release. Slowly we've opened our development up to the community and started to participate in the wide, wide world of game development on the internet. That's where we stand today, giving our free time so that some day you can play The Maestros with us!
